Fine Gael MEP, Mairead McGuinness, says it’s crazy to be opening up trade talks with South America when we’re trying to cut down on food miles. The EU is currently in discussions with the Mercosur countries - Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay – about concluding free trade deals. But Mairead McGuinness says it makes no sense to import the likes of beef from Argentina when Irish farmers can produce it here. |
