The EU looks set to cap bankers’ bonuses after a European Parliament vote this lunchtime (Wednesday) in favour of new legislation. EU governments are now expected to rubber-stamp the new rules which the European Parliament says will be some of the most strict in the world. They include a limit on upfront cash bonuses. Fine Gael MEP Gay Mitchell is backing the move designed to stop the high-risk, short-term bonus culture.
