An Dublin MEP has questioned a European court’s decision to allow Ryanair to continue to own shares in arch rival, Aer Lingus. The General Court of the European Union, part of the European Court of Justice, concluded that a merger of the two airlines should not be allowed. But Ryanair will not have to sell it’s 30 per cent stake in Aer Lingus. Labour MEP, Proinsias de Rossa, welcomed the barrier to a merger but he questions the logic of allowing Ryanair to keep its shares in its Irish competitor. |
