Script details:
Fianna Fail MEP Pat “The Cope” Gallagher is calling on the EU to continue to back the International Fund in Ireland which supports cross-border initiatives. The topic is being discussed at the European Parliament in Strasbourg this week. The fund was set up by the Irish and British Governments in 1986 to promote cross-communities in support of the peace process. Current projects that have received financial support should not worry as this will continue until the project reaches conclusion. However there is a worry about new projects seeking funding. MEP Gallagher says the fund has done wonders for the area.
