Of interest to:
20

Script details:
There are calls for clarity on how an EU-wide helpline for missing children will be funded. The 116000 number will have to be operational in every EU country by May 2011. So far only 11 countries have set it up – Ireland is not one of those. The aim of the 116000 number is to ensure that there is one designated helpline throughout Europe for people who want to alert the authorities to the possibility of a missing child. A delegation of MEP’s met with the EU Commissioner for The Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes. As MEP Gay Mitchell explains, questions were asked as to how the entire system would be funded.
