Title:
All truck drivers must be treated the same - De Rossa(1 of 3)

Of interest to:

Script details:
Proinsias De Rossa says our roads will be safer if self-employed truck drivers are subjected to the same working conditions as truck drivers who work for a specific company. The issue is to be debated at the European Parliament in Strasbourg today. All drivers already have to obey by the tachograph which clocks the number of hours being driven in a week. However there is a limit on the number of hours that drivers who are employed by a company can spend working in the company, outside of being behind the wheel. Self-employed drivers are exempt from this at the moment. Labour MEP Proinsias De Rossa says if drivers are spending hours a day at administration work the fatigue will impact on their driving.
