Former Waterford Crystal workers should be able to avail of EU funding for re-training and up-skilling immediately after the European Parliament gave it the green light today.
Financial aid of 3.9 million euro has been approved to help re-train the workers made redundant by Waterford Crystal.
Over 600 workers will each be able to apply for approximately 6 thousand euro each under the European Globalisation Fund scheme.
65% of the funding will be made available by the European Union.
The Government will top this up with an extra 35%.
The money can be used for re-training, up-skilling and further education.
